Landmark Society Documents Rochester's African-American History.

For Rochester, July 5 is historic date. From the podium of the Central
Presbyterian temple on that date 1852, Frederick Douglass made his
historic language on "The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro." This
past July Rochester renewed its place in history with the release
of The City of Frederick Douglass: Rochester's African-American folks
and Places, a volume that commemorates the historical accomplishments
to blacks in Rochester and the sites where specific families lived,
institutions
