The AAUP is pleased to announce the publication of sum of two units new guidebooks. Navigating Faculty Appointments: Questions and Answers, at Jonathan Knight, director of the AAUP's academic freedom and manner [i]or[/i] principle of holding program, guides faculty members by means of questions about employment offers, evaluations and reviews, academic freedom, occupation requirements, and other topics.

Pregnancy in the Academy: Questions and Answers explains by what mode the Pregnancy Discrimination Act applies to women in the academic workplace. The guidebook, written on Saranna Thornton, professor of economics at Hampden-Sydney corporation addresses such issues as the differences between pregnancy disability leave and family medical leave, the application of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act to piece of work interviews and the promotion and use process, and academic employees' rights below the act.

These books join guides to salary equity, effective lobbying, faculty handbooks as enforceable contracts, and the Family and Medical Leave Act in the AAUP's series designed to inform faculty and other higher education professionals about areas in which the AAUP commonly receives questions.
